Position Description

University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, seeks a Advanced Practice Provider – Complex Pain Program. 

The UVM Medical Center is a regional, academic healthcare center and teaching hospital in alliance with the University of Vermont, serving all of Vermont and the northern New York region. We are located in Burlington, Vermont, a small vibrant city situated on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain. 

Position Summary:

We’re searching for nurse practitioner or physician assistant to serve as a member of a transdisciplinary team delivering care to individuals with chronic pain using an integrative model. Duties will include providing patient-centered, trauma informed  care using a biopsychosocial framework in individual and group settings and educating patients and family members in support of positive outcomes.  

Education:

  • For PA: Graduate of an ARC-PA (or its predecessors) accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program. Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred. Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Vermont Board of Medical Practice.
  • For NP: Registered nurse who has successfully completed formal education program approved by the Vermont Board of Nursing, or state or national accrediting agency which prepares nurses to function in advanced nursing practice.  Must also be certified by national certifying agency recognized by the Vermont State Board of Nursing.

Experience:

The successful candidate will have familiarity and experience working with patients experiencing chronic pain, familiarity with integrative modalities and a commitment to a holistic model of care, a positive outlook, and the ability to serve as a strong and collegial member of a highly functional team.
