Position Description

University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center and founding member of the University of Vermont Health Network, seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

University of Vermont Medical Center, is located in Burlington, Vermont, a small vibrant city situated on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain. The Champlain Valley region offers an incredible range of educational, entertainment, and recreational opportunities.

Position Summary:

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) is a Registered Nurse who functions in an expanded nursing role, providing primary health care and emergency services to high risk newborns. They work collaboratively with the physician staff of the Children’s Health Care Service in general and of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specifically. In the NICU, NNP work is conducted using guidelines agreed upon with the Medical Director of the NICU. The NNP is responsible for complete daily management of a caseload of patients, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, and day-to-day implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care.

Education:

Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of VT as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. BSN and satisfactory completion of an accredited Neonatal Practitioner Program. National certification as an NNP.

Experience:

Minimum two years experience as a NICU Nurse required.
