Specialist NP/PA

Alamo Diabetes and Endocrinology is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner and/or Physician Assistant. We are a specialty Endocrinology Practice providing comprehensive care of Diabetes, Endocrine and Hormone related diseases based in the San Antonio medical center.

Alamo Diabetes and Endocrinology has been recognized as by the National Committee of Quality Assurance for its quality Diabetes Care (NCQA). NCQA Recognition highlights practices that follow medical evidence to deliver care and improve its quality. The diabetes care program highlights clinicians who demonstrate they provide high-quality care to patients with diabetes.

This position is required to meet the needs of our growing clinical practice.

THE POSITION

We are looking for a Nurse Practitioner and/or a Physician Assistant. The ideal candidate evaluates, plans, and provides care for patients in consultation with and under direct supervision of attending Physician.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing history and physical examinations based on age and diagnosis.
  • Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills
  • Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
  • Triages patient telephone calls, provides monitoring and continuity of care.
  • Participates, develops, and implements performance and/or quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Serves as the clinical expert and acts as a clinical resource for other staff members.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES OF POSITION

  • Accuracy and ability to exercise considerable judgment.
  • Ability to maintain current customer service, clinical, and technical skills.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and provide suggestions for improvements in practice policy, procedures, and protocols.
  • Proficient use of EMR in the delivery of care
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates preferred
  • Previous Endocrinology experience preferred but not required
