Continue to Support VA Proposed Rule

Posted over 7 years ago by Callan Janowiec

From Deborah Wachtel - our state AANP rep:

In the upcoming weeks, we must continue to show our support for the VHA APRN proposed final rule as the White House Office of Management and Budget, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OMB OIRA) continues its review. Please use the AANP Advocacy Center to send a letter urging your members of Congress to request that the VA finalize and implement the proposed rule as written. Your voice is important to this effort as we encourage timely action on the proposed rule in order to ensure our nation's veterans have direct access to the high quality care NPs provide.

AANP Advocacy Center

It is important that we continue our strong advocacy in the final weeks of the 114th Congress. Please use AANP’s Advocacy Center and contact your members of Congress during this important legislative time to help educate them on issues of importance to NP practice:

Ask your members of Congress to support the Home Health Planning and Improvement Act (S. 578/H.R. 1342), which would allow nurse practitioners (NPs) to certify their patients' eligibility for home health care services.

Urge your members of Congress to support the Promoting Access to Diabetic Shoes Act (H.R. 4756), which would authorize NPs to certify their patient’s need for therapeutic shoes.

Ask your members of Congress to support legislation to allow patients of NPs to be counted in ACOs. The Rural ACO Improvement Act of 2015 (S. 2259/H.R. 6261) would allow the assignment of NPs' patients to Medicare Shared Savings ACOs.

This is a huge deal for all of us. I hope everyone supports the efforts of all NPs who have worked diligently to make our members of Congress aware of what we do and what we need to be able to continue to do legitimately! Thanks Deborah for all of your work!!
