ACO Bill Introduced in House of Representatives - HR 1160

Posted about 7 years ago by Deborah Wachtel

ACO Assignment Improvement Act of 2017 was introduced in the House by Representative Derek Kilmer (D-WA) and Representative Lynn Jenkins (R-KS). Although the Affordable Care Act recognizes nurse practitioners as eligible to participate in Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs), under the Medicare Shared Savings Program, the statute prevents Medicare beneficiaries who receive their primary care services from NPs from being assigned to ACOs in the program. This legislation would improve the way beneficiaries are assigned under the Medicare shared savings program by allowing the assignment of nurse practitioners' patients to Medicare shared savings ACOs. Please reach out to your Representatives and ask them to support, H.R. 1160, the ACO Assignment Improvement Act of 2017.
