On Friday, December 18, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for a second COVID-19 vaccine. On Sunday, December 20, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) approved an interim recommendation on the use of this approved vaccine. CMS has provided updated coding and reimbursement guidance with the approval of this second COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and FDA have published multiple updated resources and information for health care providers on the COVID-19 vaccine.
- The CDC materials for health care professionals preparing for COVID-19 vaccination include training modules, reference materials for patient education and a storage and handling toolkit.
