Dear Vermont Nurse Practitioner Community:

On behalf of Planned Parenthood, thank you for being a trusted partner and for all the work you do to serve and care for your communities in Vermont. I hope you are safe and can take time to care for yourself.

I’m sure you’ve been unable to escape the news about the imminent threat to our constitutional right to abortion. The official Supreme Court opinion is expected to drop any day now. At Planned Parenthood, we are bracing for bad news, and along with it, a second surge of public outcry against such a harmful and politically driven disregard of human rights.

To prepare, we are planning events for the public to come together on Decision Day.  As valued partners, I want to relay our initial plan and invite you to collaborate where it makes sense for Vermont Nurse Practitioners Association to participate.

On Decision Day, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England and Planned Parenthood Vermont Action Fund will host the following rallies:

  • Burlington: Unitarian Universalist Church, 152 Pearl Street at 5 p.m.; if on a Wednesday, the start time will be pushed to 6 p.m.
  • Montpelier: Federal Building, U.S. Post Office and Courthouse, 87 State Street at 5 p.m.
  • Bennington: Bennington Four Corners at 5 p.m.
  • Brattleboro: at 4pm in location still TBD (we can loop back around once confirmed)

We can also keep you posted that day if community members plan to host their own events throughout the state.

Business/Organization Support Opportunities (we welcome your ideas here as well):

  • Share information via email or social media about these rallies in advance of Decision Day.
  • Share PPVTAF event graphics once released on Decision Day to your own platforms.
  • Share education about the Reproductive Liberty Amendment on your social media channels.
  • Send staff or volunteers to one or more of the rallies to help with crowd control.
  • Send advocates to one or more of the rallies who can speak to their experience about reproductive freedom.
  • Host an event of any size on Decision Day that best meets the needs of the people you serve.

Please email or call me if you have questions, feedback, want to take on any of the above suggestions, or have other ideas to be involved.

Thank you for your time and attention. This decision will create ripples in all our work in ways that we can’t fully comprehend. Let’s stand together in solidarity for Vermont.

Yours in Action,
