You are invited to participate in a research study led by two nurse practitioners/professors at the UMass Chan Medical School, Dr. Pat White and Dr. Mary Fischer. This research specifically examines whether experience as a registered nurse (RN) influences transition and socialization to the role of nurse practitioner (NP) among recent graduates of accelerated RN–to–NP programs. We are excited about this research as few studies have explored this transition.

By way of more background, we are seeking to learn from recent graduates of accelerated RN–to–NP programs (graduation classes of 2018 through 2022) in New England who have been practicing NPs for at least six months. All eligible NPs are encouraged to enroll whether they previously practiced as an RN or not. Participants will be asked to complete either a brief interview on Zoom with one of the Co-Principal Investigators (PIs), or a survey on their own, and will receive a $25 gift card. This study, known as the RN–to–NP Study, has been approved by the UMass Chan Medical School Institutional Review Board. To learn more and get involved, we ask that folks kindly review the attached RN–to–NP Study Flyer and Fact Sheet, which includes informed consent information.
