2024 Barbara Rouleau Preceptor Award: Call for Nominations

Nurse practitioners and students in Vermont -

Do you know a stellar preceptor? A preceptor who has made a difference?

Here is your chance to recognize that preceptor!

 

We invite your nominations for the Barbara Rouleau Preceptor Award, sponsored by the Vermont Nurse Practitioners Association, with the University of Vermont Department of Nursing.

This award recognizes the contributions of an outstanding preceptor and their impact on nurse practitioner students and future nurse leaders. Barb was a compassionate clinician, a patient mentor, a talented educator, a generous colleague, and a dear friend to numerous colleagues.

Dr. Rouleau was a clinical assistant professor in the University of Vermont Department of Nursing and a nurse practitioner in the UVM College of Nursing and Health Sciences faculty practice at Appletree Bay Primary Care.

Deadline for nominations: April 30, 2024

Nominee requirements:

• Nurse practitioner serving in a preceptor capacity for nurse practitioner students in Vermont.
• Demonstrated commitment to effective clinical teaching, mentoring, evaluation, and student growth.  This may include:  creative teaching methods; opening the practice to students frequently; helping to organize activities that benefit student learning; working closely with the students' academic program.
• Nominees do not need to be VNPA members.

To nominate:

Email the following information to vermontnp@gmail.com, with the words “Preceptor Award” in the subject, no later than April 30, 2024.

1. Your name and contact information
2. Name and contact information for the nurse practitioner nominee
3. Include the name/site of the practice where this nurse practitioner precepts students
4. Describe in no more than 250 words how this nominee demonstrates excellence as a preceptor and why they should be recognized for their clinical teaching, as outlined above.

The Awards Committee will review all nominations and select the recipient. The Barbara Rouleau Preceptor award recipient will be honored at the annual VNPA Conference in November.
