AHEAD Model update
Posted about 17 hours ago by Michelle Wade
Hello VNPA Members,
please see the below email from Dr. Saroyan about the state executing the AHEAD model contract with CMS and the interim planning. As the VNPA rep. to the Blueprint executive committee, I am happy to bring forward any concerns and questions. please email VNPA with your questions/comments/concerns vermontnp@gmail.com
From Dr. Saroyan:
Good morning, all,
As many of you may have heard, the Green Mountain Care Board voted in favor of signing the State Agreement affirming Vermont’s participation in the States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development (AHEAD) Model | CMS this past Friday. All three State signatories (the Governor, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the Chair of the Green Mountain Board) as well as the signatory authority for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation have signed the agreement; it is now fully executed.
This agreement has the potential to bring in an additional $150M in flexible Medicare funds to address Vermont’s unique health system needs – and opportunities – and protects the State’s existing Medicare contributions to the Blueprint for Health and Support and Services at Home (SASH). While the State has opted to participate in Cohort 2 – with a “go live” date of January 1, 2027 – and we will experience a gap year in in terms of Medicare investment in these programs, we are actively working with our state partners to fill this gap.
I will keep you as up to date as possible on developments for funding the ‘gap year’ and preparing MIPS-eligible practices for reporting in 2026.
Please forward this message to your colleagues and write to me with any questions.
Kind regards,
John
