Invitation to Participate in a Study on SDOH Z-Codes

Posted about 13 hours ago by Michelle Wade

My name is Ashley Nester, and I am a PhD student at Wilkes University. I am conducting a qualitative research study on the use of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Z-codes in primary care nurse practitioner practice. This study has been determined exempt by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at Wilkes University.

I am reaching out to request your help with participant recruitment. I am seeking primary care nurse practitioners in the Northeastern United States who have awareness of SDOH Z-codes. Participation involves a 30–60 minute interview conducted by Zoom.

I hope you’re doing well! I’m conducting a qualitative research study exploring perspectives on the use of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Z-codes in clinical practice. SDOH Z-code use is defined as collecting SDOH data, documenting SDOH data, mapping the data to an SDOH Z-code, using the data, and reporting the findings.

I’m reaching out to see if you would be interested in participating in a brief interview (approximately 30–60 minutes).

To participate, you will need to:
• Practice as a primary care nurse practitioner, and
• Have some awareness of SDOH Z-codes.

Your insights would be valued, and all responses will be kept confidential.
If you’re interested, I’ll send you an inclusion form with a statement of consent, a brief demographic tool, and a link to schedule a Zoom interview at a time that works for you within the next two months.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me healthequitysdoh@yahoo.com
Also, if you know of any colleagues who meet the criteria and might be willing to participate, please feel free to forward this invitation — I’m targeting 20 participants.

Thank you so much for considering this!

Warm regards,
Ashley Nester, MSN, RN
