As part of the National Nurse Practitioner Week, the VNPA Board was able to contact the Governor's office and request Governor Shumlin to sign a proclamation supporting the week of November 10-16, 2013 as Vermont Nurse Practitioner Week. It all happened very quickly and unfortunately we had only two days to get the announcement out and then have the picture taken with the Governor.

The Governor was appreciative of our efforts to provide quality, cost effective care to the residents of Vermont. He recognizes the role we play in healthcare and the future we have within the new healthcare system. He thanked us all for our dedication to our profession.

VNPA has also contacted the local newspapers including the Burlington FreePress, The Rutland Herald and The Times Argus to run a community service announcement about the proclamation signing. It will be a little late in getting published but a great piece of recognition for our group. Please be looking for it in your local paper.
