DEA announces official schedule change for hydrocodone combos
Posted over 9 years ago by Deborah Wachtel
All hydrocodone products will become Schedule II agents in 45 days. Chick here to view the final rule.
Although Vermont prescribers are not effected by this rule as we have full prescribing priveledge here as well as full practice authority, this move will impact patients that require hydrocodone combination products in ten states and two US territories (see list below). This drives home the need to stay focused on state and federal legislation that impacts patient care by creating barriers imposed on NP practice.
States Impacted by Hydrocodone Schedule Change:
- AL
- AR
- FL (No current C-sub authority. No change in access with this reschedule)
- GA
- LA
- MO
- OK
- SC
- TX (setting specific restriction)
- WV
US Territories:
PR (No current C-sub authority. No change in access with this reschedule)
Virgin Islands

I would love to know how many folks have experienced their scripts being rejected from these mail pharmacies. Bringing that info to the region 1 meeting would be very important as well as informing Senator Sanders and Congressman Welch.
