Drink Tax Update and Information

Posted about 9 years ago by Amy O'Meara

The Alliance for a Healthier Vermont, A coalition including more than 30 Vermont organizations, including VNPA, is calling for a 2-cent-per-ounce excise tax on sugar added drinks.

Members say the tax can help prevent costly illnesses related to obesity and reduce health care costs.

The group proposes to use the revenues from the proposed tax on funding for health care, food insecurity, and wellness programs for low-income Vermonters.

We ask VNPA members supporting to tax to write letters to the editor and contact your local senators and representatives.
