AANP Celebration Announcements

Posted about 9 years ago by Amy O'Meara

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the NP program and bring recognition to the vital role that NPs have in health care delivery today, AANP has launched a national multi-media campaign. The campaign begins in early February and will run throughout 2015. A press release announcing the campaign will go out on the wire service Monday, February 2 – read the release below.

CNN New Day and Fox and Friends will soon air the "NPs leading the Charge" 30-second television spot. AANP has purchased time on those cable shows during the following weeks: February 16, March 9 and March 23, May 4, June 8, September 21, October 12 and October 26, and November 9. The spots will air three times per week during the nine weeks listed above for a total of 27 spots on each channel. We don't have an exact time for when the ads will appear. AANP will be running additional spots in select local markets.

The spots end with a call-to-action, asking viewers who are interested in seeking the excellent care that NPs provide, to go to NPFinder.com and locate an NP near them. We hope you will encourage your state reps to ask their constituents to register their practice sites on www.NPFinder.com so that they can take advantage of this unique opportunity to help patients find an NP in their community.

Around the nation, NP bills have been dropping into session, taking on some positive amendments and moving forward.
The first full practice bill of the year to clear a committee is Nebraska's LB 107. The bill passed on a vote of 7-0! The bill now heads to the Senate floor.
Washington state's signature authorization bill unanimously passed the House health committee with a "do pass recommendation", an Indiana committee amended NPs into a bill to authorize prescribing controlled weight loss medications, and RI, NM and HI have introduced insurance non-discrimination bills that mimic the ACA language. Congratulations to all of you who are working hard to bring about positive changes for patients. Check out these and many more bills on the AANP state legislative tracking center.
